Building two separate labyrinths and one of them with a medicine wheel herb garden were projects of pure love. The prep included a deep dive to educate myself in philosophy and mythology. I studied everything I could get my eyes on about these forms, the meanings and their history. Our ancestors built these forms TO the land as offerings in gratitude as useful tools for touching the earth and sky. These projects were gifts to me and my teams, the makers. Even though we worked hard in weather and were well paid, the “real” benefits connected us with each other, our futures and our ancestors. One site is a location in Southern California and one is on a river property in Las Sylvestres near Abiquiu, NM.
